Welcome to the appointment schedule for the Grinnell College Writing, Reading, and Speaking Center! Log in to make an appointment or to change or cancel an existing appointment. Appointments can be changed or cancelled up to two hours before the appointment begins.\

What to expect

The six professional instructors at the Writing Center provide encouragement, advice, and expert feedback on any communication project, for any class, in any department, at any point in the process. 

Appointments are 40-minute one-on-one conversations with a professional writing instructor. Feel free to shop around to decide which instructors best fit you and your needs!
You can bring us a complete draft you want feedback on—or you can bring us ideas, notes, an outline, a single messy paragraph, a confusing passage from the reading that you want to talk through before class. Whether you’re getting started, developing an argument, finding a focus, organizing a draft, writing the intro/conclusion, trying to be more concise, or just wondering whether this paper makes sense… come talk with us.

If you like writing, we can nerd out with you about whatever you’re working on. If you don’t, we can make the process less stressful and more productive.

Who can make appointments

Current students can make up to one appointment per week; additional appointments can be scheduled in consultation with an instructor. Alumni are allowed up to 3 appointments per semester; however, in the final two weeks of the semester and during final exams week, all appointments are reserved for current students.

If you are ill, please make an online rather than in-person appointment. If you have already made an in-person appointment, you can change it to online: click on the existing appointment, then use the "Edit Appointment" button at the bottom of the appointment information window to make changes.

We are located in HSSC C1410; follow the signs from the south wing of the HSSC, or come in the front door of the Carnegie building from Park Street.
